- How long do you keep applications?
We keep all applications on file for one year. However, when pursuing a position with our district, we request that you update your application for specific positions.
- I don’t see a position posted, can I still apply?
No, you may only apply for positions that are posted.
- How can I tell if a position is year round or school year?
The job description should indicate the contract days of the position. If it does not, please contact our office for the answer.
- Can I work at my child’s school?
Position locations are not guaranteed year after year or even for hire. Positions are based on need at a specific school and positions can be moved at any time.
- Who is responsible for keeping certifications and fingerprints current?
The employee is responsible to keep all certifications and fingerprints up to date. The district is not responsible for certifications or fingerprinting.
Benefits start on the first day of the month following hire for certified employees and the first of the month following the 60th day of employment for classified employees.
- How many hours do I have to work to receive health benefits?
You must work thirty or more hours in a week.
- Do you offer direct deposit?
- What is a paraprofessional?
A paraprofessional assists with instruction and supervision of students through one-on-one and group instruction, playground supervision and assisting with testing and assessment of student’s progress. Position responsibilities and longevity will be determined from individual classroom’s needs.
- How do I become a paraprofessional?
According to federal guidance, a paraprofessional is required to meet the following requirements:
An Associate’s degree or higher or 60 semester hours of coursework documented on an official transcript from an accredited institution of higher education; or
Meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through the passage of a formal state assessment listed below:

Maricopa Unified School District administers the Praxis Para Pro test on site. The cost is $50.00. Please contact Lisa Lara 520-568-5100 ext 1031 to schedule a time to take the test.
