Eastside AzTEA, 2007-2008 Theme: Wading through Web 2.0

 

What:              K-12 AzTEA Mini-Conference – Integrating Technology in your Classroom or School – Tomorrow!

                   Hosted and Sponsored by Eastside Chapter of AzTEA

 

Audience:       K-12 Educators

Date:              Tuesday, February 19th

Time:              Check-in 3:30 – 4:00, mini-conference 4:00 – 6:00

Location:        Maricopa Wells Middle School, Library - watch for map and directions to be posted here in the near future

                        Participants will receive certificate for 2.0 Continuing Ed Hours, valid toward AZ Teacher Recertification, at close of the evening

Welcome & Keynote:  4:00 – 4:30, check-in begins at 3:30

Keynote and Special Guests:

Cathy Poplin, ADE Deputy Associate Superintendent for Educational Technology

Nan Williams, ADE Director of Educational Technology

Both Mrs. Poplin and Mrs. Williams are leaders within the Arizona Department of Education, School Effectiveness Division

Mrs. Poplin is the chair for the Arizona State e-Learning taskforce

 

Break-out sessions:  4:30 – 6:00 

§         Thinkfinity – Session 1:  Math & Science  Session 2:  Reading, Writing & Social Studies -  hands-on in lab- Thinkfinity formerly known as ‘Marco Polo’

Session Leader:  ASSET

§         Using Microsoft Office for differentiated instruction, Teachers bring a lesson plan to work with, walk out with a product you can use with your students  -  

                         Hands-on in lab

                         Session Leader:  Tempe School District

§         Photo Story – Learn how your students (and you) can create digital storybooks (no camera needed!)  hands on  

              Session Leader:  Tesseract School, Paradise Valley

§         Discussions

o       Bring a lesson plan to integrate using SmartBoards, document cameras other technology,

o       or chat with Keynotes from the State Department of Education about IDEAL and Educational Technology as ways to improve school effectiveness
