Saddleback Robotics Team at State Contest

(Maricopa) On Saturday February 28th, the Vex Robotics Team from Saddleback Elementary School competed in the State Robotics Championship held at Arizona State University’s Tempe Campus.  Out of the 31 teams entered in the competition, the Saddleback Team placed 16th with a total score of 217 points.  The Team was coached by Mr. Doug Fortunato and Mr. Scott Walters.  Mr. Fortunato commented, “We scored nearly four times as many points as at our last meet, and we doubled our highest skill challenge total from 8 points to 16 points … I am extremely proud of how much every member of our team has improved, and the score just shows the smallest part of it.”

The Maricopa Unified School District is proud of the accomplishments of these elementary school students and their coaches.  For more information about Saddleback Elementary School or any other of our outstanding elementary schools, please visit our website at
