Santa Rosa Elementary Jump Rope for Heart Event

Every year since 2003 Santa Rosa has participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event, which is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Banners from each of those years hang proudly in the classroom of Physical Education teacher Marcus Whitley. This event engages elementary students with jumping rope and encourages them to improve their own health. This year’s event recently concluded and Santa Rosa’s goal was to raise $2,000 for the American Heart Association. “I'm so proud to say Santa Rosa has the smallest population in our six elementary schools at MUSD but we have the biggest hearts, raising over $5,000 at this year’s Jump Rope for Heart event,” stated Whitley. “This almost tripled what we did last year! We have Scorpion Pride! It just goes to show that together we can accomplish great things.
