Blended Learning Programs Host Open Houses

The Blended Learning Programs at Desert Wind and Maricopa Wells Middle
School will be having open houses next week for the upcoming school
year. Blended learning is available for sixth, seventh and eighth
grade students who are self motivated, responsible, creative, know how
to advocate for themselves, and work well in groups. The blended
learning classroom is a combination of student directed lessons on
Chromebooks, small group and whole group teacher directed instruction
and project based learning with an emphasis on Science, Technology,
Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) and real world

Each open house will offer tours of the classrooms and presentations
from teachers, current students and parents. The Maricopa Wells open
house will be Wednesday, March 23rd from 5:00-6:00. The Desert Wind
open house will be Thursday, March 24th from 6:00-7:30.
Parents/guardians who are interested in placing a child in this
program in 2016-17 are encouraged to attend.

Registration for the Blended Learning Program at each school is now
open for registration for the 2016-2017 school year and will close on
Thursday, March 31. If a student is currently in fifth grade the
student would qualify to participate in the program as a sixth grader
for the 2016-2017 school year. The registration forms can be found on
the MUSD District homepage, MUSD District Office and at each school
site.  Parents/Guardians will receive a letter in the mail or a phone
call that their child has been accepted into the program by May 1,
2016.   Completed registration forms can be returned to Mrs. Diane
Vigil at the District Office or electronically at
