MUSD Hires Lieutenant Colonel Allen Kirksey

(Maricopa) The Maricopa Unified School District is proud to announce the hiring of retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Allen Kirksey.  Kirksey assumed the leadership of the Maricopa High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) for the last two months of the 2015-16 school year replacing Major James Alonzo who has retired.   Kirksey had a distinguished and exemplary career in the Air Force and brings with him 15 years of command and staff officer experience. Positions held during his tenure in the Air Force included Intelligence Branch Chief, Security Forces Squadron Commander, Deputy Mission Support Group Commander, Logistics Readiness Squadron Commander and Wing Chief of Staff for the Air National Guard at Sky Harbor in Phoenix. He possesses a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix, and he also completed the Air War College and the Air Force’s On-Scene Commander’s Course. In 2014 he was awarded the Calvin C. Goode Lifetime Achievement Award by the City of Phoenix for his “commitment to the Phoenix community and dedication to human and civil rights”. Kirksey volunteers over 100 hours annually to the community. The Air National Guard website quoted him as saying, “You don’t have to wait 20 to 30 years to see a kid become successful, to turn over a new leaf or live out their dreams; you can make a change in their life right now”.  The Maricopa Unified School District is honored to welcome Lt. Col. Kirksey as part of our instructional staff at Maricopa High School.
