New Assistant Principal at Maricopa High School

At the 6/22 Maricopa Unified School District Governing Board meeting Stephen Ybarra was hired as the new Assistant Principal at Maricopa High School. Superintendent Steve Chestnut stated: "We are very fortunate to have Mr. Ybarra as the new Assistant Principal at MHS. His knowledge and experience will be a great addition to the staff." Mr. Ybarra completed his Master's degree at Northern Arizona University and his Bachelor's at Arizona State University. Last school year he was the Student Achievement Teacher for Globe High School in Globe, AZ. From 2011 to 2014  he was the principal at Sunnyside High School in the Sunnyside Unified School District in Tucson, AZ. Mr. Ybarra was the principal at Carl Hayden Community High School in the Phoenix Union High School District 2001-2011. In 2000-2001 he was the  Dean/Assistant Principal at Cesar Chavez High School in the Phoenix Union High School District. He served as the principal at Superior High School in Superior, AZ 1996-2000. Mr. Ybarra began his educational career as a teacher in the Chandler Unified School where he taught for fourteen years. "I am very happy to be here in Ram Country and hope to work with teachers to improve test scores of students and be a resource to everyone in the school as well as the community," stated Ybarra. "This is a very welcoming and supportive community and I am very happy to be here."
