Marcus Whitley – A Heart for Kids and Health


(Maricopa) On Friday October 28, 2016, Santa Rosa Elementary School’s Physical Education Teacher Mr. Marcus Whitley was recognized by the American Heart Association with an Appreciation Award for his outstanding efforts to promote The AMA’s Jump Rope for Heart. 

American Heart Association’s Senior Director – Youth Market Ms. Molly Pierce stated, “Mr. Whitley has been volunteering for 8 years and is constantly finding new ways to encourage his students to not only take care of their own hearts but to raise money to help people with special hearts.  His school is the top fundraising school in the Maricopa Unified School District and has been for the past 2 years, each year raising more than the previous year and setting new records for Santa Rosa Elementary.”

The District is proud of the exemplary efforts of Mr. Whitley and his deep commitment to the health and well-being of the children at Santa Rosa Elementary. Congratulations!
