MHS DECA Continues to Excel

(Maricopa) Maricopa High School sent their largest delegation to date (78 students) to DECA regional competition on Tuesday, January 17. Maricopa High DECA continued their superb performance record, including:

  • 5 FIRST PLACE awards out of 15 events
  • 7 BEST IN SECTION role play medals
  • 4 test medals (awarded to top 10% of testers)
  • 34 overall competitive medals

This year MHS faced its toughest competition yet, facing off against Tempe Union, Mesa and Chandler school districts.

1st place - Principles of Hospitality - Elise Brown Thunder

1st place - Principles of Marketing - Freya Abraham

1st place - Quick Serve Restaurant Management - John Spencer

1st place - Travel and Tourism Team Decision - Lillian Chitwood and Alyssa Hollingswoth

1st place - Food Marketing - Amber Hennigar

2nd place - Food Marketing - Kyra Morris

2nd place - Automotive Services Marketing - Alexandria Lisby

2nd place - Travel and Tourism Team Decision - Rylie Gosiak and Benjamin Diaz
