During the recent Maricopa High School fall break, two MHS students, sophomore RyAnn Liermann (daughter of MUSD Special Education Counselor Amber Liermann) and junior Elijah Baxter participated in a hurricane recovery trip to Corpus Christie and Port Aransas, Texas with a Maricopa church group. The students helped five families including a single mom, a 97 year-old veteran and a family who lost their home and their business. The students cleaned up debris, cleaned floors, tore down drywall and repaired a garage. Amber stated: "RyAnn had an amazing time. She wished she could have stayed longer and hopes to return to Texas to see the rebuilding process. She met people from all over the USA there, working together."
