Under the direction of Mr. Ivan Pour, the Maricopa High School Marching Rams had an exciting and busy day on November 11th. In the morning, the Marching Rams celebrated veteran's with an appearance in the Maricopa Veteran's Day Parade. In the evening, the Rams took to the field at Perry High School in Chandler for their final performance of the 2017 season as part of the Arizona Marching Band Association Championships. The Marching Rams posted their best performance so far this season of their program "Bases Loaded", improving their overall score by more than 7 points from their previous appearance.
"I want to thank our band parent volunteers for their many hours of assistance and hard work building and moving props and equipment and feeding our hungry band students," stated Mr. Pour. He went on to say, "I want to thank the MHS faculty and administration as well as MUSD administrators for their support. I am also grateful to the Ak-Chin and Gila River Indian Communities for their generous support of the band and orchestra programs and the recent grant funds they have provided. Finally, I want to acknowledge the hard work of the rest of the band staff - Assistant Director Roger Wagner and Colorguard Coach Taylor Austin. These two, along with a great group of student leaders, do a large amount of work as we prepare for our performances. Their hard work gets us ready to share the field with bands who often have many more staff members than we do. What we do would not be possible without all of us taking on multiple roles and working hard. A big thanks to all!"
