(Maricopa) Butterfield Elementary School and Arizona State University (ASU) have formed an exciting partnership and on Friday, January 19th Butterfield took over 500 students (second grade through fifth grade) and over 120 parents and staff to Wells Fargo Arena to an ASU Women's Basketball Game. This is the second year Butterfield attended this event and it did not disappoint. The "Sparky's Kids to College" program is attended by many schools around the greater Phoenix valley and is designed to connect youth with ASU.  University athletic players are role models to the community and ASU strives to make positive impressions and promote the importance of higher education to all kids in Arizona.

Mrs. Krigbaum commented, “Starting the conversation early about college is a game changer for the staff at Butterfield. We want the conversation not only started early but promoted and fostered.  Last year we noticed that this field trip was really fun and also noticed that it emphasized the college experience and encouraged the kids to excel in higher education. Exactly what we feel like our kids in Maricopa need to see.”
