(Maricopa) “We are proud of what we do!”  These were the words from Mr. Chaz Jackson President of the Arizona Chapter MC of the Buffalo Soldiers of America.  “We have been non-stop in February with events and presentations for Black History Month.  On February 27, we took part of our Buffalo Soldier Historical Traveling Museum for display to Maricopa High School in Maricopa, Arizona.  We gave presentations to all the classes from 9:00 a.m.  to 2:00 p.m. We had a great time with the students.  Some students were awarded shirts and Buffalo Soldier caps for answering historical questions.”

The group is scheduled to also present at Pima Butte Elementary School on March 8th.  MUSD and Pima Butte employee Diana Jones commented, “I am so thankful that Chaz and the group are able to incorporate my late husband’s Buffalo Soldier pieces with theirs to create the largest traveling Buffalo Soldier Museum in the Southwest.” The Arizona Chapter MC of the Buffalo Soldiers of America will have the entire traveling museum at the Black Rodeo at Rawhide on March 10th

The District would like to thank the efforts of Mrs. Jones and Mr. Jim Irving for helping to schedule this wonderful educational experience for our students. For more information about the Buffalo Soldiers please visit their Facebook page at
