Mrs. Bernadette Russoniello
Serving at Maricopa High School for the past eighteen years, I am excited by my current role in advising students on opportunities beyond high school and organizing impactful events and experiences for college and career.
I am an Arizona native, graduating in the top of my class at Barry Goldwater High School. I attended Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College attaining concurrent degrees in English and History, a post-baccalaureate in Secondary Education, and a M.Ed in Curriculum Design and Instruction, in addition to a M. Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
I currently hold standard teaching certificates in CTE Business and Marketing, English 7-12, Social Studies 7-12, Political Science, and ESL. Over my professional career, I have taught multiple courses in English, US History, US Government, Marketing and Student Leadership. My years of experience as an educator have taught me several things: learning never stops, education and knowledge cannot be static, and a professional community of support is essential for success.
I believe in teaching the whole child, that the art of teaching is a blend of rigor, relevance and relationships. I believe students need a strong foundation of knowledge and authentic project-based learning to prepare for college and career success. I believe education is a partnership with educators, the child, parents and the community working together to help children succeed in learning. Quality counseling and guidance should support students in determining who they are, what they want, and what they must do to achieve their dreams.
