Mr. Tyler Miller
I am a Maricopa High School graduate, class of '97. I have spent time in the private sector working construction for over 15 years before finding my passion in teaching. After graduating summa cum laude from Arizona State University, I student taught at Desert Wind Middle School in Maricopa and then chose to apply at Maricopa High School. In 2015 I began my teaching career and have loved my career choice. I chose to teach History and Social Studies because of the stories and because math and I don't necessarily get along.
The subjects of Social Studies and History are about knowing who you are, where you come from, and just how important you are to the world. When you understand the history of the world, you are more prepared to interact and affect change in that world. If students are carefully encouraged to seek out their role in their communities, homes, and the broader world, they are more likely to find purpose and fulfillment in their lives. It is the role of the teacher to awaken each student to their potential and value in the classroom and beyond.
