    • Students with a temperature of 100 degrees F. or above will be sent to the Health Office for further evaluation.
    • Staff or students with a temperature at or above 100.4 degrees F. will be asked to return home until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Hand Washing

  • CDC Guidelines

Teach Hand Washing, Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette to reinforce hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and increase monitoring to ensure adherence among students and staff. If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used.

    MUSD Practices

    • Require all students to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol at the following times:
      • Students will wash their hands when they arrive to the classroom and before they leave each day.
      • Students will wash their hands after using the bathroom.
      • Students will wash their hands after recess, PE, or any physical activity.
    • Posters and signs will be located throughout the school to remind students to wash their hands.
    • There are multiple hand sanitizing stations within the classroom where students are able to clean their hands if needed.

Posting Signs and Directions

  • CDC Guidelines

Post signs in highly visible locations (ie., school entrances, restrooms) that promote everyday protective measures and describe how to stop the spread of germs, such as by properly washing hands and properly wearing a cloth face covering.

    MUSD Practices

    • Signs will be posted in high traffic areas throughout the schools to promote safety.
    • Signs will be posted in the parking lots, bus loops and building entrances to allow safe arrival for students and staff.
    • Signs will be posted throughout the school to promote social distancing.
    • Posters will be made for each school site to promote hand washing and other hygiene practices.

Reporting Cases

  • CDC Guidelines

    • Close off areas used by a sick person and do not use these areas until after cleaning and disinfecting.
    • Wait at least 24 hours before cleaning and disinfecting. If 24 hours is not feasible, wait as long as possible.
    • Ensure safe use and storage of cleaning and disinfecting products, including storing products securely away from children.
