Can I enroll my child if we do not live within district boundaries?
Absolutely! All children are invited to participate in Maricopa’s first dual language program.

What are the goals of MUSD Dual Language Programming?
- Students will develop high levels of proficiency in their first language.
- Students will achieve high levels of proficiency in their second language.
- Students will develop academic performance at or above grade level in both
languages. - Students will develop positive levels of self-esteem
- Students will learn to speak and communicate in a second language.

What are the age and entrance requirements?
- Preschool students, four and five years of age, may enter the program at any time after classes begin.
- Kindergarten and first grade students may enter the program at any time if space is available. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1.
- Space is limited. Students who meet program requirements and complete the enrollment process will be accepted into the program on a first-come, first-served basis.

- English/Spanish at the Santa Rosa Elementary School Campus

What academic content and support are provided?
- Arizona State Standards will be taught in the classroom by a highly-qualified teacher.
- Paraprofessionals will provide additional support in preschool and kindergarten classrooms for students learning a second language.

When do classes begin?
- Classes follow the Maricopa Unified School District school calendar.

How can parents help?
- Commit to participating in the program long-term so that your child can develop advanced-level language skills.
- Develop an understanding of Dual Language.
- Read with your student in English 15 - 20 minutes a day.
- Encourage the use of the Spanish language outside of school.

Can I withdraw my child from the program and place them in a regular MUSD school program of study?
You may withdraw your child at the end of the semester to transfer into a regular school program of study. However, you are asked to commit to a year of the program.
