Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Paul Becker

I am Paul Becker, and I will start my second year as Assistant Principal of Maricopa High School. Prior to joining Maricopa High, I was the English Language Arts Academic/Instructional Coach at Scottsdale Unified School District and 22 years as a high school ELA teacher in two other districts and states: Gilbert Public Schools (Gilbert High and Desert Ridge High) in Arizona and Brevard County Public Schools (Eau Gallie High and Palm Bay High) in Florida.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Central Florida, and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I did spend a few years at the University of South Florida as a music major, but I found out that I had a different passion, which led me to the classroom and to here. This passion comes from a philosophy that every student can succeed and every student deserves a quality education.

Education is very important in my family. My wife Stacey is a third grade teacher at Santa Cruz Elementary and my step-daughter Megan also joined the family business three years ago as a kindergarten teacher in Mesa Public Schools. My step-son Will is a junior at Arizona State University. All four of us value education and Stacey, Megan, and I love what we do.

I look forward to working with you and your students this year!
