Program Description:
The Stagecraft program prepares individuals to apply artistic, technical and dramatic principles and techniques to the communication of dramatic information, ideas, moods, and feelings through technical theatre methods.The Stagecraft program includes instruction in set design, lighting design, sound effects, theatre acoustics, scene painting, property management, costume design, and technical direction and production and use of computer applications to support these functions.

CTSO/Club:
Arizona Thespians is a group of educators, students, and professionals who are dedicated to promoting theatre education in our schools and community. Stagecraft students compete each year in the Arizona Regional thespian competition as well as the Arizona State Thespian Tech Challenge competition, where they have won the knot tying physical skill challenge 3 out of the last 4 years. Students have represented the program at the national level in Louisville, Kentucky as well.
Internship:
The program has 4 paid interns that help with the running of the performing Arts Center. They continue learning advanced skills in Stagecraft in a much more student-driven style.

Stagecraft’s community outreach group, MHS Tech Crew, stays very busy in the community and on campus where they construct the sets for the drama and dance clubs, provide DJ services to many schools within MUSD, and provide sound reinforcement for Homecoming week and graduation.
