Who's Eligible?

  • A graduating senior from a local high school that lives within the ED3 service territory.
  • A full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university for the upcoming semester (minimum 12 credit hours).
  • Have a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Students pursuing a major in an agriculture, electrical engineering, water resources or similar STEM field.
  • Awards are made based on the field of study, academic excellence, and overall achievement. All decisions of the scholarship committee are final.

Application Information

  • Scholarship applications are available between December 1 thru April 1.
  • The deadline date and time for the Scholarship Program application submission is April 1st at 11:59 PM MST.
  • High School Seniors

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must complete their high school education during, at the conclusion of, or prior to the current academic year.
  • Students must reside in the City of Maricopa
  • Applicant must be accepted by a junior college or university
  • Applicant must be accepted in a vocational, technological, or health-related program
  • Complete the scholarship application
  • Have two letters of recommendation
  • Submit copy of college entrance (ACT or SAT) scores, if applicable
  • Submit official information on high school GPA (a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required) and class rank
  • Proof of enrollment is required in order to disburse scholarship funds, if selected, and will be requested at a later date
  • Request latest transcripts to be sent directly to Maricopa Community Foundation
  • Incomplete or late application packets will not be considered

Eligible Applicants

All applicants must be planning to further their education in Agriculture, CTE or a STEM-related field at a U.S. College, University or Trade School. Additionally, eligible applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be a graduating senior from a Pinal County high school
  • Must be a student from Pinal County who passed the General Educational Development (GED) test
  • Must be a home school student from Pinal County who can provide a certificate of completion from their home schooling program
  • Must be a full-time college student from Pinal County or attending college in Pinal County

Criteria for All Applicants/Applications

  • Have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA
  • All applicants must submit their Official High School (for high school seniors) or College (for college students) Transcripts
  • Three Letters of Recommendation (at least one of these must be from a teacher, counselor or equivalent source)
  • Applications must be typed

While the official process begins during the first weeks of senior year, the Flinn Scholars Program recommends Arizona high-achieving students start preparing well before. 
In addition, students throughout high school should pursue challenging and interesting studies and commit to extracurricular activities. Then be ready to apply.
