Early Entrance
The Early Childhood Standards from the Arizona Department of Education provides a framework of knowledge and skills children need to possess in order to be a successful kindergarten student.
Age is a requirement for Kindergarten enrollment. Maricopa Unified offers an early entrance, age exception for children who turn 5 between September 1st and December 31st. All early kindergarten children must participate in a screening for acceptance. Early entrance will be approved if the student demonstrates advanced academic skills and exceptional social and emotional maturity. Parents and guardians who wish to apply for early entrance are required to set up a screening appointment at the District Office.
