Ms. Deana McNamee
My name is Ms. Deana McNamee and I am honored to be the principal of Maricopa High School!
I was born in Tuba City, Arizona and was raised in Winslow, AZ where I attended school K-12. Upon high school graduation I attended my first year of college at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Inspired by my father, a secondary English Teacher and High School Guidance Counselor, I returned to Arizona to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff. In Fall of 2000, I accepted my first teaching position at Holbrook High School, Holbrook, Arizona. I remained there for eight years before returning to my alma mater, Winslow High School. Over the course of my teaching career, I have coached volleyball, basketball, swimming and was the student council advisor for over 10 years. In 2015 I completed a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, which opened up opportunities to support learning on a larger scale. I enjoyed working as a district Academic Coach before accepting a position as an Assistant Principal at Winslow High School, then moving to the district level to support learning, instructions and assessment.
I am raising three beautiful daughters, two lazy dogs and am excited to now call the diverse Maricopa community home. As I enter my 23rd year in education, I am honored to join the #RamNation family. But, I am most excited to partner with a dedicated staff and community as we continue our mission to “prepare today's learners for tomorrow's opportunities”.
