Arizona Revised Statute dictates which students are eligible to ride the bus by using a radial distance from the school. Sometimes the radius is confused with a driving route. To be clear, a radius is “a straight line extending from the center of a circle or sphere to the circumference or surface”. The radius for K-8 students is 1 mile. For 9-12 students the radius is 1.5 miles. Students may live within the radius, but actually walk further than the prescribed distance because of the street layouts.
